We've made working with us as simple as possible for our customers. Below outlines our 8-step approach for getting qualified staff to start working at your establishment. Bring your mouse over each step to discover how we work with you.
Needs Identified
Your company may have identified a need for additional help in finding adequate staffing. Your company may have strong seasonal needs; your area may not have a large labor pool, or you simply feel like adding a little "international flair" to your organization by filling some of your vacancies with international students. Whatever your needs, the next few steps will outline the process of hiring internationally under the J1 Visa program. You will be pleasantly surprised by how easy IWEG makes the process for you, and how little of your time and effort will be required to staff up with international student workforce.
By now you probably know what kind of human resources needs you will have coming up in the next few months or so. You may have a need for seasonal help, in which case the short-term Work and Travel program (up to 4 months) would be appropriate, or if you are looking for a long-term employee, you may want to consider the Intern / Trainee program which allows international student or recent college graduate to work in the US for up to 12 months.
After identifying your needs, you can call IWEG to discuss meeting them and begin working on a recruiting strategy for your organization. Please tell us about the positions you would like to fill with international students, give us an overview of basic job description for each of these positions along with your specific requirements so that we may begin our search for the ideal candidates.
Prospect Screening
Armed with the details you have provided, IWEG - along with its international partners - can begin the screening process to narrow down the potential candidates that most closely match your needs and timeframe. Files of selected candidates that pass through the rigorous screening and matching stage can be submitted to you for preliminary review. Some companies ask for IWEG to perform preliminary screening interviews on their behalf.
Candidate Review
Upon receipt of the selected candidates' profiles and curriculum vitae, you will have the opportunity to personally scrutinize each CV in order to select only the candidates that you feel should be considered
Candidate Interview
Once selected, candidates may be invited for an interview. There are several options that are available to HR managers at this point. You may choose to interview via phone, via recorded conversation, in person when applicable, or you may simply elect IWEG to conduct the interviews for you, In which case, we would be glad to do so and there would be no additional cost associated with that service.
Application Process
Once you have selected your new employees, it is time for IWEG provide all the necessary documentation. Again, you will not have to worry about completion of lengthy forms, answering questionnaires, or other lengthy processes. Of course you may stay involved in every step if you choose to do so. IWEG will work on completing all forms that are required (DS 2019 for all students and the DS 7002 for Interns and Trainees) in order to secure visas for your future international workforce.
Housing
As all of our student participants come from abroad, they require appropriate accommodation. Most employers that work with large numbers of seasonal Work & Travel students provide some kind of housing in shared apartments or dormitories at resorts. IWEG is willing to work with employers to help to identify appropriate housing. Many employers choose to take on some of the cost of the housing in order to attract the best workers available.
Pre-Employment Training
We want to make sure that you and your organization are very happy with the quality of the international student workforce recruited by IWEG. Part of our mutual success will greatly depend on how prepared these individuals are upon arrival. IWEG and its partners are committed to the compliance of regulations and the preparation of Work & Travel participants through providing orientation on key topics such as US regulations, expectations of the employer, the realities of working in the USA and other relevant topics.
Work Begins
Congratulations, now that all documents have been completed, housing has been secured, visas approved and tickets purchased, your international student recruits are well on their way, and eager to get started.
